Seven new pieces will make up the collection of art works by Emu Park local Jeff Quigley who will be the Featured Artist in the upcoming Emu Park Gallerys Winter 2018 exhibition. Three paintings on the ‘dark side’ and three on the ‘light side’ and one on the ‘blues side’ will make up Jeffs part of the exhibition
Jeff is a self-taught artist (nearly) who has harboured a creative streak all of his life. As long as he can remember he has drawn and sketched and occassionally painted. Never seriously as his old school reports cards always stated he was too easily distracted.
In 1998 Jeff had the opportunity to enroll into a fulltime two year Diploma of Visual Arts Course in Rockhampton. After 6 months of the course and absolutely loving the Visual Arts it became apparent to Jeff that he would not be able to make an income out of Visual Arts and transferred over to the two year Fulltime Diploma of Graphic Design Course. In 2000 Jeff graduated from the Diploma of Graphic Design Course with Honours.
It was during this time where Jeff nurtured his desire to become involved in the blossoming Web Design Field. He subsequently created his Studioquigs Wed Design business which still operates to the this day.
In early 2015 the artistic spark was reignited with Jeff and his path back into painting commenced. Encouraged by dear friend and a Gallery member, the Late Faff Chandler, he applied to and was successful in becoming a member of the Emu Park Art Gallery.
With more time on his hands these days Jeff has been able to create new artworks on a regular basis. He loves to create paintings with a narrative, a story, or perhaps just to get his viewers thinking about his subjects.
